I’ve been running my own home-based businesses (several of them) since early 2006. I created this site because I know there are lots of people out there who would love to own their own business, but don’t know where to start. Indeed, figuring out what type of business to start can be one of the most difficult things. And once you get started you find there’s a lot more to it than you expected.
But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it! Business ownership has a large number of benefits, including some terrific tax advantages that are simply not available to anyone who is not a business owner, plus there’s nothing as great as getting your business to a point where you can “fire your boss”, and work only for yourself. Of course, for many people, they find that their businesses own them instead of the other way around.
So what’s the goal? Have a business that you run when you want, which does not eat up all your time and energy, but still pays you very well. And if you can start it up with minimal costs, that’s even better. What’s the perfect candidate for these criteria? A home-based business. But of course there are many to choose from, and there are always pitfalls along the way.
So this blog is intended to help you decide if you truly want to start your own home based business, and if so, what type to start. And of course I aim to provide advice on how to get started, tips on how to deal with issues that come up along the way, how to generate business, etc. Even if you’ve already started a home-based business, I hope you will find the information useful.
And please always remember: if you want something in life, like your own business, don’t be afraid…just go and get it! Or maybe I should say: go and do it!
